Lightsource bp orders multi-gigawatt First Solar PV modules

Lightsource bp signed a multi-year order to purchase First Solar's thin-film photovoltaic solar modules with a capacity of up to 5.4 GW. It is expected that there will be a portfolio of multiple gigawatt solar projects in the next few years.

Lightsource bp has agreed to purchase up to 4.3-GWDC modules for its U.S. utility scale projects, and bp will purchase up to 1.1 GWDC to power its projects developed by Lightsource bp.

bp's acquisition of these projects is part of its net zero goal, which aims to increase its net development of renewable energy power generation capacity to 20 GW by 2025 and 50 GW by 2030. The planned deployments of the two companies include Arkansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

The framework agreement is the largest in First Solar's history and will provide modules scheduled to be delivered between 2023 and 2025 to support the company's solar development pipeline in the United States.

"This landmark solar industry procurement transaction is a testament to Lightsource bp's exponential growth in the United States and our confidence in First Solar technology," said Kevin Smith, CEO of Lightsource bp Americas. “As we continue to develop and advance the 10 GW development pipeline across the United States, in addition to our partner bp’s 9 GW, signing important long-term procurement agreements with world-class financing suppliers such as First Solar enables us to achieve growth Achieve 25 GW of solar power plans and industry-leading global goals by 2025. It also converts our customers into competitively priced electricity."

First Solar will provide Lightsource bp with its recently developed cadmium telluride (CadTel) modules, which are produced in its vertically integrated manufacturing complex in Ohio. These modules are designed and developed at the company's research and development centers in California and Ohio.

Georges Antoun said: "The US solar industry is at an important turning point. It must continue to provide 45% of my country's electricity by 2050, while addressing the risks and uncertainties brought about by increasingly unstable solar panel production, pricing, and supply. Sex." CCO, the first solar energy. "This is our entry point. With the support of First Solar's reputation, our ability to help customers manage these risks by providing long-term stable pricing and supply commitments is a key differentiating factor."

In addition to the multi-year module sales agreement, First Solar also signed a memorandum of understanding to explore opportunities to obtain electricity from the power generation assets developed, owned and operated by Lightsource bp in Ohio. First Solar has pledged to use renewable energy for 100% of its global manufacturing operations by 2028. The temporary goal is to convert its US facilities to carbon-free electricity by 2026.

First Solar has also launched a recycling program that can recycle more than 90% of CadTel for new modules.

That's a great article. I have investors who want to build a solar panel power station worth up to 1 GW. I need to set a price of 2 MW. A complete grid-connected power station. The inverter ground installation system and monitoring complete package. Please call Barry Foster.

"First Solar has also launched a recycling program that can recycle more than 90% of CadTel for new modules."

This is very important for the circular economy of cradle-to-cradle solar photovoltaic manufacturing to achieve a sustainable future. It seems that First Solar will provide solar PV for its production line by 2028 and the process used for thin-film CdTe panels requires about 1/3 of the total energy to produce First Solar panels instead of typical single crystal or crystalline solar photovoltaic panels.

Which "other" solar photovoltaic manufacturer has 22 years of experience in its product line, has a recycling program since 2003, the cost of manufacturing energy is lower than other solar photovoltaic cell chemicals, and it cuts off when silicon is involved Part of the supply chain is used for solar photovoltaic cells.

"This is our entry point. With the support of First Solar's reputation, our ability to help customers manage these risks by providing long-term stable pricing and supply commitments is a key differentiating factor."

There is a bottom line, with a mature product with years of online use, recycling, and horizontal pricing. The disadvantage of CdTe technology is "only" 18.3% efficiency, while some top TOPcon N-type panels can reach 24% efficiency. But in large-scale utility-scale applications, you can use cheap panels and design the solar photovoltaic field to a DC bus to AC output ratio of 1.5 to 1, adding a single east-west tracking to increase solar energy for 2 to 4 hours on any day Photovoltaic power generation, in fact, has a winter power generation capacity of 33%, and summer power generation capacity is about 42%.
