Spanish startup provides flexible kits for balcony solar power generation using SunPower modules – pv magazine China

The kit consists of one or two modules, a micro-inverter and a 5-meter cable. Thanks to its plug-in technology, it can be connected to any power outlet and start generating electricity immediately.

These modules can also be used for trucks and ships.

The Spanish startup Tornasol Energy has launched a solar kit that enables flexible photovoltaic power generation on balconies, terraces, awnings, caravans and boats.

The kit consists of one or two modules, a micro-inverter and a 5-meter cable. Thanks to its plug-in technology, it can be connected to any power outlet and start generating electricity immediately.

The company sells a 300 W kit containing only one panel at a price of 450 euros; and a 600 W kit with two modules at a price of 790 euros.

Monocrystalline solar modules are provided by the American manufacturer SunPower. Its size is 1,710×1,029×5.6mm, and its weight is 6kg. The battery efficiency is shown to be 24.8%. The micro-inverter provided by the Chinese manufacturer Envertech measures 248x236x27.5mm and weighs 2.8kg. Its efficiency is about 95%.

The offer also includes an installation structure for hanging the panels on the balcony railings.

“This idea comes from our own experience. Seeing the trend of electricity costs, we hope to rely on solar energy by installing panels on the balcony, but we found that the bulky traditional panels do not allow this,” said Santiago Vernetta, the company’s co-founder . "At that time, we decided to study [create] kits for more general purposes."

According to the company, solar panels are flexible and easy to operate, and can be directly connected to any outlet that powers the home network. Tornasol Energy is currently working on adding batteries to the kit.
