Hyundai America has taken a page from Tesla's book and is launching its own energy product line. Modern Home offers three products, hoping to compete with Tesla Energy.

"You can not only charge your electric modern car at home, but also the energy of your home. Hyundai Home provides you with a way to produce, store and use solar panels, energy storage systems, and electric car home chargers. The easy way to own energy. "

Although the product is not yet on the market, looking at the webpage gives me a sense of deja vu. Modern Home plans to provide solar panels, energy storage systems and household electric car chargers. Little is known about its solar panels, but Hyundai encourages you to register to learn more. Hyundai Motor pointed out that solar panels are an effective way to generate electricity while reducing carbon footprint.

Hyundai is buying solar panels with built-in micro-inverters and available energy storage systems from the same company. The company's technology is known for its high efficiency and long-lasting high performance. However, the name of the company has not been disclosed. What is your guess?

In addition to storing excess electricity generated by solar panels, there are few other details. The home EV charger will be a 240-volt (level 2) charger, which will charge 3 to 7 times faster than a traditional 110-volt outlet. Hyundai has no plans to include wall chargers in the price of electric cars, but encourages its customers to cooperate with their dealers or buy from new websites.

Hyundai launched this energy ecosystem to reduce the burden of customers' painstaking research on household energy. The company said it hopes to simplify the process by creating a "one-stop" energy ecosystem so that customers don't have to figure out too many things.

"The concept of solar energy is still a new and complex space. Customers spend hours researching to determine which products to use, which products are the safest and most suitable for their needs. With modern homes, we are simplifying the process. Through our "One-stop" energy ecosystem, we are doing errands for our customers."

Hyundai Motor pointed out that "several original equipment manufacturers" provide similar ecosystem solutions, but their solutions are even better. [Editor's note: A similar program was launched as early as 10 years ago. For example, Ford and SunPower have teamed up to provide rooftop solar energy to buyers of Ford Focus electric vehicles. I remember a similar partnership between Nissan and Honda electric car buyers. Of course, at the time, stationary energy storage systems were not part of the package. ]

“Hyundai is providing an excellent customer experience, combining Hyundai’s leading position in customer care and service with first-class partners in the energy and electrification fields. Working with these industry experts to launch Hyundai Home is to seek a more simplified way to receive solar and electric power. Customers of car charging solutions introduce the perfect way for modern homes. For example, we don’t need to bundle our energy storage solutions with solar panels. Our solar panels include micro inverters. Micro inverters make solar energy The battery panels can operate independently, even if part of them is in the shade.

"We will also prioritize an excellent customer experience. The modern home experience will include a personalized purchase process and continuous/consistent touch points throughout the customer's electric vehicle journey-ensuring and guaranteeing customer satisfaction. Our goal is to make solar energy, electricity Connect with sustainable life as seamlessly as possible."

Hyundai Motor pointed out that its products should be available at selected dealers in early 2022.
