The Nissan Caravan Mountain Base Concept comes with chunky tires, loads of solar panels, and a "bring-it-on" attitude.

Just like our overwhelming love for big, brawny trucks, the east love their vans. And that is why Nissan has planned on showcasing a wild idea with the Caravan Mountain Base Concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022. Based on the 2022 Nissan Caravan van which is very popular in the east, this concept aims to bring luxury, sustainability, and ruggedness into a single picture. The exterior gets transformed with layers of solar panels.

There is a durable paint job layered with a wood-grain wrap for a "natural" appeal. Chunky wheels and a high-mounted LED light bar show its off-road-ready character. The cabin is surprisingly comfy and comes with a mini-workstation and a digital fireplace to keep you warm. If "utilitarian" isn't your cup of tea, then Nissan has a luxurious counterpart with the Myroom Concept.

Nissan has done a rad job by converting the humble workhorse of a van into this cool "go-anywhere" machine. Durability has been the core ideology and it shows. The Caravan Mountain Base Concept is painted in a material that resembles those rough truck and durable Bedliner coatings. A beefy front bumper integrated LED DRLs and headlight grilles for a rugged appeal and protection.

It also gets a roof-mounted LED light bar to truly shine on your expedition! The side profile gets a subtle and nature-ish woodgrain wrap. The plethora of solar panels highlights its self-sufficient capabilities. It gets a deployable solar panel on the roof. Even the side windows have solar panels in them. To go places, this concept comes with all-terrain tires on Beadlock wheels.

Nissan seems to love the idea of having wood everywhere. The interior is completely covered in wood paneling, and it looks rather plush. There is not too much drama here, as the cabin comes with a work table on one side, and a bench on the other. There's loads of space to relax and work. Also, a digital fireplace adds to the relaxing vibe without a fire hazard.

If the rugged Mountain Base Concept isn't your cup of tea, Nissan has the Myroom Concept for a luxurious take on things. This concept shares the same base vehicle but let's go of the wood-grain wrap and rugged LINE-X-type paint job.

There is no light bar or angry bumper here, but a blissful white paint job with subtle mountains stickered on the sides. Thankfully, the all-terrain tires are retained, so you can still take them places. The interior takes a U-turn with a plush layout. It gets a full-sized mattress with storage compartments on both inner walls. The far end also gets a couch. Sorry, no digital fireplace here!

We also have camper and expedition vehicles. But most of them are built on a truck base and have gigantic proportions. Vans, on the other hand, are compact and can also be transformed, even at a home garage, into cool road trip companions. Nissan's self-sustained and luxurious take on the Caravan van makes us crave more.
