Evergy completed the construction of a 1.92 MW solar system in Paragould, Arkansas, and started commercial operations this month. The array uses double-sided solar panels combined with Schletter single-axis trackers (the first Schletter trackers installed in the United States) to optimize the efficiency of the solar array throughout its life cycle. The 4,692 panel arrays will generate approximately 3.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year.

"At Evergy, our goal is to ensure that the energy generated by the new solar array is the lowest cost peak power resource in [Paragould Light Water & Cable's] energy portfolio. We are very happy to work with PLWC to provide clean energy solutions for Paragould customers Solution," said Lloyd Jackson, managing director of Evergy Energy Partners.

Paragould, a city with more than 26,000 residents, began planning a solar project in 2020 and selected Evergy through the proposal request process.

PWLC CEO Darrell Phillips said: “We are proud to bring solar power to the citizens of Paragould and work with Evergy, a trusted partner for 18 years. “PLWC continues to move forward steadily on our recently launched 1-GIG Internet. Now we are generating solar energy in an exciting new way. We are building excellent infrastructure in our city and providing reliable products to our friends and neighbors. "
